Research and Development (About Us)

Research and development (R&D) activities as one of NIOSH core functions whereby the Research Management Centre (RMC) was established to carry out all R&D activities at NIOSH.

RMC responsibility:

  • To foster various discipline of OSH research in accordance with NIOSH priority
  • To enable and expedite high-impact research through collaboration and partnership
  • To coordinate research projects through effective monitoring approaches
  • To disseminate research outcome to all relevant stakeholders

Since 2018, NIOSH introduce the Outcome-Based Research Grant to stakeholders which is open throughout the year. Therefore, any research output that offer and meet those criteria are welcomed to apply:

  • The output are measurable, achievable & ready to be used; AND
  • New development or innovation of products/ services/ process/ related; AND
  • The output able to provide 30-60% solution to OSH related issues; AND/OR
  • The output will support the core functions of NIOSH (especially for training and consultation services); AND/ OR
  • High potential output to be registered as Intellectual properties - IP (especially a patent); AND/OR
  • High potential output to be commercialised; AND/OR
  • The output can be obtained through the use of existing NIOSH facilities, laboratories & scientific instruments.
