PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Occupational Health and Safety Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), has been enacted and come into force on 25th February 1994 with intention to make further provisions for securing the safety, health and welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risks to safety or health in connection with the activities of persons at work and also, not limited to these, to improve the administration and enforcement of the occupational safety and health legislation in Malaysia.

One essential element required in every organisation as stipulated in the Section 15 (1) and (2) of OSHA 1994 is the General Duties of Employer and Self-employed Persons in terms of establishing safe and healthy work place. The act is not restricted only for the employees’ safety, health and welfare but also to other persons who are involved directly or indirectly in the work operation. Whereas in the Section 15 (3), the definition of “employees” includes an independent contractor engaged by an employer or self-employed person e.g. Contractor, vendor, transporter, supplier, tenant, etc.

Derived by these requirements and request for assistance by the industries, NIOSH as the national premier institution on occupational safety and health and through it’s expertise has develop a series of training module catered specifically to the contractor back in year 1997. Training modules, case study, discussion and role play methodologies has been used in the developed program which has been well accepted and widely recognised as the effective and efficient training program not only by local organisation but also from various Multi National Companies i.e. Intel, Motorola, Robert Bosch, Infineon, Sony, B. Braun, Petronas, Shell, General Electric, etc.

Hence, this is the opportunity for your esteem organisation to participate in the program, which has proven track records and wide recognition locally and international.

SCOPE OF PROGRAMME

The scope of this project is to assist the client to develop and establish an effective Safety and Health training framework for the client’s contractor as per required by the legislation.

OBJECTIVES

Objective of the contractor’s safety induction programme is to establish the training programme framework specific to the client’s organisation, culture and practices (rules and regulations).
