Welcome to NIOSH Sabah Regional Office (SBRO) Website. NIOSH SBRO is our sixth regional office which carries out NIOSH core business activities i.e. training courses, seminar, consultation services, research and development. It was officially launched by NIOSH Chairman, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Lam Thye, on 21 st May 2007.

Sabah is known as the 'Land Below the Wind' and once out of Kota Kinabalu (KK) the capital, much of the state remains forested. There are over 32 ethnic communities speaking 80 dialects in Sabah . Located in the South China Sea , KK is a bustling city with a mixed population. Once known as Jesselton when Sabah was British North Borneo , it was mostly rebuilt after World War II.

Sabah is also famously known for it's 4,095m Mount Kinabalu, Asia's highest peak and the Kinabalu National Park, a 754sq km global wildlife sanctuary and Malaysia's first World Heritage Site. The park has one of the world's richest assemblages of plants and the two-day return walk to the summit of Mount Kinabalu .

NIOSH SBRO is timely and strategically established with the rapid industrial development in the region. NIOSH services are also extended to Labuan , one of Malaysia ’s three federal territories which is also an international offshore financial centre. Located 10km off the Sabah coast, it offers duty-free shopping; wreck diving, golf and World War II Memorials.

Labuan ’s free port status, numerous international hotels and excellent telecommunications facilities also make it an ideal venue for meetings and incentive events.
